Workshop on Challenges, Opportunities, Needs and Successes for including human dimensions in IEAs

Affiliation: IEASG

Chairs:  Alan Haynie, Jörn Schmidt, Mette Skern-Mauritzen and Eva-Lotta Sundblad

ICES Integrated Ecosystem Assessment (IEA) groups have very different levels of economic and social science involvement. This workshop took place in October 2019, providing an opportunity for the ICES IEA community to meet and to review and discuss options for expanding the human dimension inputs into IEAs.

The workshop had three primary goals:

  • Summarize social and economic data, indicators and relevant research done across ICES and other IEA regions
  • Identify goals for including social and economic data and analyses in IEAs
  • Develop a roadmap for including social and economic data and analyses in each IEA
The workshop provides a roadmap for each IEA group that identifies challenges and opportunities for greater integration and specific steps for action and a synthesis paper.
