ICES/NASCO Workshop 2 for North Atlantic Salmon At-Sea Mortality

The Second Workshop for North Atlantic Salmon At-Sea Mortality will meet online on 15 June 2022 for a 1-day scoping meeting and then from the 30 August to the 1 September 2022.

Expected outputs from the one-day preparatory workshop:

  • A working paper on the high priority hypotheses concerning potential sources of at sea mortality that are thought to be limiting the conservation potential of North Atlantic salmon.
  • This will directly support the work of the subsequent 3-day workshop to identify opportunities and mechanisms to leverage existing data within the ICES region and that could contribute to progressing relevant stock assessment tools for WGNAS and also support further development of the Likely Suspects Framework.
  • The prioritisation of hypotheses in advance of the main workshop will allow participants in advance of that session to concentrate on the datasets that have greatest utility to match and advance the hypothesis-testing process. This will ensure that the subsequent ICES data call is tightly focused.
