A special programme will be on offer for all early career scientists in Dublin.
ICES: What? Who? How? Why?
Monday 19 September
08:00–09:15 O'Connell Room
Many early career scientists, especially those attending the ASC for the first time, have a lot of questions about how to become a member of our community and why!
Jörn Schmidt, ICES Science Committee (SCICOM) Chair and Mark Dickey-Collas, ICES Advisory Committee (ACOM) Chair, introduce this breakfast event for early career scientists to start the week.
Kick off your ASC with a good breakfast while getting to know some of the key people within the organization, who will be there to answer all of your questions.
Registration is now closed for this event.

Network session: Connecting ICES expert groups to early career scientists
Monday 19 September
Join this interactive, fun, social session.
Get to know various ICES expert groups and connect with other early career scientists at ICES.
This network session aims to connect ECS with a wide variety of EG representatives. The session will provide an opportunity for EGs to showcase their work and recruit ECS to their group. In turn, ECS will get an overview of various EGs, ask questions to the EG representatives, and have the opportunity to join EGs of interest. Through the interactive session, ECS will also be able to connect with one another, enabling a rich information flow between different ICES EGs, which will be further facilitated by SIIECS beyond ASC 2022.

Registration is required.
Early career scientist awards
Three early career scientist awards will be presented at the conference (two for oral presentations and one for poster presentation). These awards will emphasize the quality of the presentations and not the career achievements of the early career scientists.
The awardee is the first author and major contributor to the research presented. They don't need to be first-time presenters at an ASC, however, they should not have received a previous early career scientist award from ICES.
The prizes consist of certificates and €1,000 vouchers to be used to cover participation costs in an ICES training course, expert group meeting, symposium, or workshop, but not the ASC. The voucher must be redeemed within 24 months of the award.
