ICES is now accepting proposals for oral and poster presentations at the Annual Science Conference (ASC) 2014, taking place in A Coruña, Spain.

With the publication of the Call for Papers, this year available in a new, web-friendly iPaper format, those who wish to exhibit their work can browse the official 18 Theme Sessions under which to contribute. This year's overarching topic is Sustainability in a Changing Ocean, as reflected by many of the sessions, and a wide-ranging scientific programme.

Thematically, Integrated Ecosystem Assessments, the Arctic marine environment, and aquaculture are all central to the ASC 2014, and it is in these areas that ICES is particularly seeking contributions. Sessions that embody these aspects of marine biology include: 'One size does not fit all – what does an integrated ecosystem assessment mean to YOU?', 'Arctic biodiversity under climate change and other stressors', 'The application of science for ecosystem-based management of aquaculture', and 'Harmful algal blooms in aquaculture and fisheries ecosystem: prediction and societal effects'. There are, however, many more sessions covering issues such as cephalopod fisheries, jellyfish, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), and top predators.

In addition to requesting authors from the wider scientific community, the call for students and post-doctorates to submit abstracts for oral and poster sessions is as strong as ever and is indeed one of the central tenets of the ASC.

Each submission will be assessed by its technical worth and presentation as well as its relevance to the theme session under which it is entered. Successful applicants will hear back at the end of May.

ASC 2014 runs from 15-19 September at A Coruña's Palexco Congress and Exhibition Centre and will see hundreds of scientists, professionals, and students from all over the world descend on the Atlantic coastal city to display and discuss new aspects of marine science.

Browse the Call for Papers  and access the abstract submission form. Deadline for submission is 14 April.
