After 37 years as part of the ICES family, Personnel Officer Inger Lützhøft is embarking upon a new chapter, retirement.
"There were years of challenges and hard work but luckily also lots of fun. I have tried to adjust to all the changes, despite the basic elements of ICES mission being the same, have come with the changes of captains on the ICES ship. I have enjoyed being part of a dedicated staff and of mothering new recruits to the crew. The spirit and dedication at ICES is high. I say goodbye to the ICES family, and with many memories – both of the Secretariat and certainly from around the world, where I have been fortunate enough to attend ASCs every year – I will be thinking back on the many places I have visited, the many interesting people I have met, and will do so with a smile," she reflects.
Also retiring is Claire Welling, who has given ICES 30 years of service in her role as Science Programme Assisting Secretary. As well as dealing with numerous other tasks including the organization of expert group reports and proceedings, Claire also coordinated the production of the Series of ICES Survey Protocols (SISP) and ID Leaflets. During her retirement ceremony, Claire was praised for her directness, humanity, and openness to change in methods of work.
Another change sees Advisory Programme Professional Officer Mette Bertelsen moving on after 18 years at the organization involved in key advisory programme work, notably in the area of the Arctic and Barents Sea and Celtic Seas Norway lobster stocks.
Several staff in the Secretariat will be welcomed into new positions. Rachel West Knudsen will take over as Administration and HR Officer whilst Lise Cronne will assume the role of Science Programme Assisting Secretary. Meanwhile Cristina Morgado has moved to Head of Advisory Committee (ACOM) Support and Ruth Fernandez to Advisory Programme Professional Officer. Finally, ICES welcomes Alison Hill, who will fill in as maternity cover for Katie Rice Eriksen as Editor in Charge of Publications.
