Hot off the press: ICES Insight No 50

The latest issue of ICES Insight magazine features in-depth looks at some exciting and interesting areas of ICES science and advice.
Published: 20 September 2013

Aquaculture is a hot topic in marine science, and given the many opportunities it presents, is likely to remain so in the future. ICES Insight examines the use of genetics in tracing farmed salmon and how farmed and wild populations interact with each other.

Another area with countless opportunities is marine biotechnology. But what kind of regulation is needed to ensure everyone benefits equally? Laura Giuliano of the Mediterranean Science Commission (CIESM) presents the challenges this fast-growing industry faces.

The latest issue also details the find of the first living deep-water coral off Greenland and why our oceans are being clogged with marine litter.

We hope you enjoy these, and other, articles and welcome feedback.

ICES Insight is published annually and aims to highlight marine news of interest to the ICES and wider communities.

We are already planning next year's issue and welcome any submissions or article ideas. Please get in touch with the editor in charge of publications if you would like your news to feature in ICES Insight.
