In memoriam - Heye Rumohr

It was early this week that we received the sad news that Heye Rumohr passed away on Monday 23 September.
Published: 26 September 2013

Heye began his long-standing involvment with ICES as a scientist when he first submitted a paper to an ICES annual conference in 1973. He organized science symposia, was a member of several Expert Groups, chaired BEWG, served ten years as chair of various committees, received several ICES Service Awards, and chaired quite a few ICES theme sessions. Heye served as one of the alternate German members of the ICES Science Committee.

He was also an outstanding singer and enjoyed lending his strong and unmistakable basso to the ICES Choir during ASCs and other events.

Heye passed away at the age of 66 at his hometown Kiel in Germany. He was an excellent colleague and a multi-talented scientist. ICES has lost a great friend.
