Metadata for acoustic data – new publication now online

A new publication in the Series of ICES Survey Protocols (SISP) on metadata convention for processed acoustic data has just been published.
Published: 17 October 2013

The ICES FAST Topic Group for Acoustic Metadata (TG-AcMeta) has developed a metadata convention for processed acoustic data.

The objective was to develop standardized metadata protocols to suite requirements for data acquisition, processing, quality control and data dissemination of integrated active acoustic backscatter data. This includes acoustic data from both research vessels and ships of opportunity as well as deployed and moored instruments.

Adoption of this metadata convention will facilitate discovery and exchange of processed acoustic data while ensuring its achievability and longevity.
