Press release: ICES releases advice for Baltic Sea and deep-sea stocks

Today, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) releases advice for commercial fish stocks in the Baltic Sea and deep-sea stocks throughout the Northeast Atlantic.

Today, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) releases advice for commercial fish stocks in the Baltic Sea and deep-sea stocks throughout the Northeast Atlantic.

The Baltic Sea advice package comprises 21 stocks, including two North Sea herring stocks and advice on Baltic salmon and trout.

There are also 21 stocks included in the deep-sea stock package. These stocks cover a distribution area from the Arctic to as far south as Atlantic Iberian waters. Stocks include ling, blue ling, tusk, roundnose grenadier, red sea bream, and great silver smelt. Further advice on four deep-sea stocks exclusive to Iceland will be released on 12 June 2014, along with Arctic and North-Western stocks.

Popular versions of the advice released today will be available on the ICES website on ​​​​6 June 2014.
